As I begin my next chapter in the world of Communications and Public Relations, I think to myself, what is our role as communicators? When it comes down to it, everything we do is to protect and manage our brand. The visual brand is the single most important part of any organization and in one way or another every task comes back to the same conclusion, how can we build our brand, how can we protect our brand, and how can we make our brand more visible. For 17 years that has been the goal of myself and those two other fine looking gentlemen in the photo below.

Sports Information And How It Prepared Me
My entire career to date has been in college athletics, where I have served as an SID (Sports Information Director). For those that don't know this position, we are basically communication professionals on steroids. As I began to look at roles outside of college athletics, I realized the things that we thought were normal in our roles as SID's are actually done by multiple people and multiple departments at most organizations. Here are just a few roles we were asked to be as Sports Information Directors: Crisis Management, Brand Management, Social Media Management, Media Relations, Media Training, Graphic Designers, Statisticians, and so much more. I often joked there was no other job where you could work on a birthday graphic one minute and then have to write a department statement in response to a crisis the next minute. But these skills have turned me into the communications professional I am today.
So What Does This All Mean?
Well this means, that I am a really good Communications Specialist and I would love to help your organization in any way possible. I am excited to see where this field continues to go and I will never stop learning and never stop fine-tuning my craft. It is only in that way that I can do the best job possible.
